Kelleys Island School Ready For Students

Kelleys Island School will be starting back this fall on Tuesday, September 1^st with classes held every day in person.

All students and staff will be required each day to have temperature checks taken before entering the building.  A temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will result in not being allowed into the building.  Masks will be worn at all times by students and staff.  At the discretion of the teacher, and if students are properly distanced, masks may be removed when directed.  Of course, we will remain in compliance with all mandates.  All classrooms will operate at a distance of six feet from others.

Upon arrival, before lunch and after recess, as well as restroom breaks, regular hand washing and sanitizing will be scheduled.  Restroom breaks will be limited one person at a time.  Each student will have their own hand sanitizing supplies issued to them only.  Each student will be responsible for their own water bottle each day since all drinking fountains have been disconnected for public use.

All desktops, door handles, and high contact areas will be sanitized regularly during the school day.  Also at least 3 times a week the classrooms and hallways will be disinfected.

Our goal is to make Kelleys Island School the safest learning environment as possible.  Other than school staff and students, the school will remain closed for public use.  Than you for your understanding and cooperation .

With the close of schools and children working from home, teaching has definitely changed for awhile.  Teachers are doing their teaching remotely and parents have become the teacher at home.  I wanted to share resources that might be helpful to all in meeting this challenge .  These resources are lesson plans, activities, discussions, virtual field trips and videos. Educator Tools  includes more than 70,000 teacher-approved lesson plans, best practices, articles, websites, and other instructional materials to support personalized learning, project-based learning, and the inquiry process. Many learning activities can be completed remotely and online.

Digital Video Collection (DVC). DVC videos support all curriculum areas and Ohio's Learning Standards. Segmented and downloadable, most include teacher guides. Use the DVC videos in the classroom or at home.
